PURPOSE: A system and a method for automatically loading vehicles on pure car and truck carriers(PCTC) and roll-on roll-off passenger(RO-PAX) vessels are provided to measure the weight of loaded vehicles in real time and to analyze the collected weight information in a loading computer, thereby obtaining enough stability of a ship. CONSTITUTION: A system for automatically loading vehicles on PCTC and RO-PAX vessels comprises a large weight scale(20), a laser scanner(40), a loading computer(60), a parking card issuing machine(80), and a parking card returning machine(100). The large weight scale measures the weight of shipped vehicles and transmits information on the measured weight of the vehicles. The laser scanner scans the whole length, width, and height of the shipped vehicles and transmits information on the size of the vehicles. The loading computer receives and analyzes the information on the weight and size of the vehicles receiving from the large weight scale and the laser scanner; selects optimal parking positions considering the stability and hull strength of a ship; and provides accurate parking information to the shipped vehicles. The parking card issuing machine issues parking cards with a predetermined parking position based on the information received from the loading computer. The parking card returning machine receives the parking cards from drivers and transmits parking completion information to the loading computer.
