PURPOSE: A device and a method for controlling the rotation of rolling rolls are provided to improve the quality of a material by preventing tension applied to the material and to maintain uniform manufacturing speed and quality. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling the rotation of rolling rolls comprises a drive motor(30) which rotates each rolling roll installed in a rolling line, a driver(10) which is connected to the drive motor to control the drive motor, and a current sensor(20) which is installed between the drive motor and the driver and drives the drive motor. The driver controls the rotation speed of the drive motor by sensing the existence of a material from the value of current applied to the drive motor.
