PURPOSE: A composition containing a dry powder or an extract of fermented Curcuma Longa L. is provided to remove catalase, SOD, GST, GR, GPx radical, glutathione, and TBARS radical, and to prevent and treat non-alcoholic liver diseases. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating non-alcoholc liver diseases contains a dry powder or an extract of fermented Curcuma Longa L. as an active ingredient. The fermented Curcuma Longa L. is prepared using Aspergillus sp., and Monascus sp. at 1-60 deg. C and a relative humidity of 20-90% for 1 hour to 1 week. The extract is prepared using water, methanol, 50-100% water, or an ethanol mixture solvent. A health functional food for preventing and treating non-alcoholic liver diseases contains the extract as an active ingredient. The health functional food is used in the form of a powder, granules, a tablet, a capsule, or a drink.
