PURPOSE: A method for searching for content-based images based on a linear time distance function and a device thereof are provided to quickly search for a desired image by using a distance function measuring similarity between two images for a linear time. CONSTITUTION: A receiving unit receives a first image. A similarity calculating unit(430) calculates similarity between a first and a second images. An output unit(450) supplies information generated based on the similarity. The similarity calculating unit converts color spaces of the first and the second images into one-dimension and calculates minimum operation between the first and the second images for dominant colors of the images by using the similarity.
