PURPOSE: A composition containing calcium gluconate and beta-glucan is provided to treat arthritis without side effect and to overcome weakness of a conventional therapeutic agent. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating arthritis contains calcium gluconate, pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, beta-glucan, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The beta-glucan is beta-1,3-1,6-branched D-glucan. The pharmaceutically acceptable salt of calcium gluconate is calcium lactate gluconate. A supplementary heath food for treating, preventing, or relieving arthritis contains calcium gluconate or calcium lactate gluconate and beta glucan.
