The reader has a transmitter/receiver device integrated with a high frequency antenna (2), and a control and managing unit (4) for controlling emission of an electromagnetic signal at predetermined frequency. An evaluation unit evaluates terminal voltage of the antenna. Multiple charging units e.g. diode (D1) and resistor (R1), charge capacitive loads i.e. capacitors (C1, C2), from the voltage applied across the antenna. A measurement and analysis device (8) detects variation of the evaluated voltage during successive emission of the electromagnetic signal. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for managing a standby state of a contactless electronic reader (2) a car comprising a door whose opening is controlled by a handle.
