<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator having a high heat insulating effect while maintaining strength of glass material. <P>SOLUTION: The surface of a first door 20 having a height dimension H1 larger than a width dimension W1 includes an upper glass portion 27 and a lower glass portion 28 which are vertically divided. A connection 30 for connecting the upper glass portion 27 and the lower glass portion 28 is provided to a divided portion 29 between the upper glass portion 27 and the lower glass portion 28. Vacuum heat insulating material 140 is provided behind at least the connection 30 and the ends of the upper glass portion 27 and the lower glass portion 28 which are located adjacently to the connection.
