A mutual capacitance touch panel provided with: a plurality of lower electrodes formed into an approximate ribbon shape by a light-transmitting electrode material and arranged parallel to each other along a first direction; and a plurality of upper electrodes formed into an approximate ribbon shape by a light-transmitting electrode material, arranged parallel to each other along a second direction that intersects the first direction, and arranged further towards the touch-surface side than the lower electrodes. A plurality of openings is formed in the upper electrodes in portions of intersection with the lower electrodes.
