PROCESS USING EXHAUST GASES FOR EFFECTING GROWTH OF PHOTOTROPHIC BIOMASS

There is provided a process for growing a phototrophic biomass, such as microalgae or photosynthetic bacteria, in a bioreactor. The process includes the provision of at least a fraction of a carbon dioxide-rich product material to the bioreactor so as to effect photosynthetic growth of the phototrophic biomass, the provision of at least a fraction of the carbon dioxide-rich product material provided by treatment of an operative carbon dioxide supply-comprising gaseous material feed effected by a gaseous exhaust material producing process, for example, scrubbing of flue gases arising from an industrial process, to increase the concentration of carbon dioxide in the carbon dioxide-rich product material as compared to that in the operative carbon dioxide supply-comprising gaseous material feed.
