Abstract The invention relates to a heat exchanger (1) for indirect heat exchange between at least one first and one second medium, having a tube bundle (10) formed from a plurality of tubes helically coiled around a core tube (100) for receiving the first medium, a shell (20) enclosing the tube bundle (10), which shell defines a shell space (200) surrounding the tube bundle (10) for receiving the second medium, and having a liquid distributor (40), which is set up and provided to distribute in the shell space (200) a stream (S), conveyed in the shell space (200), of the second medium in the form of a liquid (F). According to the invention a control means (33) is provided, which is set up and provided to control distribution in the shell space (200) of an additional, further stream (S'), conveyed in the shell space (200), of the liquid (F), and/or to control distribution of the stream (S) of the liquid (F) in the shell space (200).
