605,930. Collapsable vehicles. BICHENO, L. Jan. 7, 1947, No. 33061/46. [Class 108 (i)] A collapsable handcart or push-chair is provided with a central tubular beam 1 to which a handle 5 is hinged at one end and the other end may be turned upwardly to form a back rest 3. A two-part seat 9 is hinged on the beam to fold downwardly on opposite sides thereof, the hinge sleeves being slotted to work about pins projecting from the beam which limit the rotation of the seat about the beam, the seats being locked in their open position by the lateral arms of a sliding sleeve 6 which engages under the seats. Each side 7 is pivoted at the upper end to the fixed back 3 by a link 4 and at the lower end is hinged to the seat 9, a downwatd extension 22 being linked to a post 23 from the central beam by a link 8 which engages the post 23 by a slot 15 engaging a pin 24 on the post. The link 8 forms a footrest and the slot 15 allows the link to shorten as the seat revolves downwardly around the beam 1. The wheel arms 16 are fixed to the sides and a sleeve 6A which locks the handle and the sleeve 6 which locks the seats are under the control of springs 13, 12 respectively. The Provisional Specification states that the invention is applicable to tables and chairs. |
