A monitor (110) of a television set (100) is provided with a control circuit (240) that has a function of a charge control unit that controls charging of a battery unit (402). The monitor (110) has: "mode 1", i.e., charge mode, wherein main charging of the battery unit (402) with power supplied from an AC adapter (404) is performed when the power is supplied from the AC adapter (404); and "mode 2", i.e., charge mode, wherein the main charging of the battery unit (402) with the power supplied from the AC adapter (404) is not performed, even if the power is being supplied from the AC adapter (404).
