摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL device with a multi-photon emission (MPE) structure having low voltage and long life. <P>SOLUTION: An organic EL device 1 includes: a substrate 10 allowing light transmission; an anode layer 12 allowing light transmission and provided on the substrate 10; a plurality of light-emitting units LE 1 to LE n stacked on the anode layer 12, in which hole-transport layers 15<SB POS="POST">1</SB>to 15<SB POS="POST">n</SB>, organic light-emitting layers 16<SB POS="POST">1</SB>to 16<SB POS="POST">n</SB>, and electron-transport layers 18<SB POS="POST">1</SB>to 18<SB POS="POST">n</SB>are sequentially stacked from the anode layer 12 side; charge generation layers 22<SB POS="POST">1</SB>to 22<SB POS="POST">n-1</SB>interposed between the light-emitting units; a cathode layer 20 disposed on the light-emitting unit LE n provided at the top in the stacking direction; and an intermediate electron-transport layer 25 disposed adjacent to the charge generation layers 22<SB POS="POST">1</SB>to 22<SB POS="POST">n-1</SB>.
