<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform alignment to one optical circuit element from the other optical circuit element. <P>SOLUTION: An optical circuit comprises: a first sub optical circuit 16 including a first optical circuit element 20 provided in a first main optical waveguide 18, a first optical coupler 22 connected to one end of the first main optical waveguide and configured to equally distribute light propagating in the first main optical waveguide to a first sub optical waveguide 24 and a second sub optical waveguide 26, and a first return structure part provided between the first sub optical waveguide and the second sub optical waveguide; and a second sub optical circuit 30 including a second optical circuit element 34 provided in a second main optical waveguide 32, a second optical coupler 36 connected to one end of the second main optical waveguide and configured to synthesize light propagating in a third sub optical waveguide 38 and a fourth sub optical waveguide 40 and send the light to the second main optical waveguide, and a second return structure part provided between the third sub optical waveguide and the fourth sub optical waveguide.
