A method for controlling power in an emergency mode in a mobile terminal is provided to lengthen the usage time of a battery by minimizing power consumption of the battery when a mobile terminal is in an emergency mode. It is checked whether a battery of a mobile terminal is in a low power state(202). When the battery is in a low power state, it is checked whether the mobile terminal is in an emergency mode(204). When the mobile terminal is in the emergency mode, an RTC(Real Time Clock) alarm period is set, the fact that the mobile terminal is in the emergency mode is stored, and power of the mobile terminal is turned off without performing a registration or location update process(206,208). When a clock for turning on the mobile terminal is generated by the RTC alarm period, the mobile terminal is turned on and the registration or location update process to a system is performed. It is checked whether the emergency mode is released(218). |
