<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detection device that presents lines of sight in directions substantially the same as longitudinal and lateral axial lines of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The obstacle detection device includes at least one optical sensor 38 included in a vehicle lighting unit or a signal device 30. The sensor 38 is fixed to the vehicle. A deviation device 40 including an electro-optic device is arranged in front of the sensor 38.
