<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a carrier tape, that can uniform the film thickness of a main surface while maintaining productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a carrier tape 1 includes: a preparation step of preparing a base material tape 10 formed of thermoplastic resin; a heating step of heating the base material tape 10; an embossing step of forming housing recesses 11 in a carrier tape area A1 of the base material tape 10 by embossing so that the housing recesses 11 are aligned at equal intervals in the extending direction of the base material tape 10 and in a plurality of rows in the width direction thereof; and a slitting step of cutting the carrier tape area A1 along a cutting line L while cutting and removing a removing area A2 in the base material tape 10 to obtain the carrier tape 1.
