SELF-HELP DEVICE FOR IN-DOOR TRAVELING, AND SAFETY APPARATUS FOR CASTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an indoor small step such as a doorsill to be easily gone over, and at the same time, to enable automatic stop and release which are adjusted to the using state of a user to be performed.

SOLUTION: This self-help device includes: a sitting section 10 for the user; a frame 20 to which the sitting section 10 is fixed, and at the same time, of which the section for placing the feet of the user in front of the sitting section 10 is opened; at least three main casters 22 which are arranged under the front end section and the rear central section of the frame 20; and an auxiliary caster 24 for fall prevention which is arranged between the main casters 22 under the frame 20. In addition, the self-help device can include: a load sensor 28 which is arranged on the supporting point for the rear seat surface of the sitting section between the rear side of the sitting section 10 and the frame 20; and a braking mechanism 30 which applies braking to at least one of the main casters 22 when a load detected by the load sensor 28 is within a specified range.
