<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch panel system capable of allowing a user to make a desired input more smoothly. <P>SOLUTION: A first detection area 11 is set on the surface of a detection surface 6p corresponding to an image each of a plurality of operation marks 20 displayed on a display surface 5p, and a second detection area 12 is set in a three-dimensional area from the detection surface 6p to a predetermined detection distance L. An image corresponding to a selection candidate mark 21 in which it is detected that a detection object is present in the second detection area 12 is enlarged and displayed, and the first detection area is set as a first detection area 13 enlarged according to the image of an enlarged selection candidate mark.
