<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether or not a person is a suspicious person even if image information lacks information on the person's face owing to a lighting environment. <P>SOLUTION: An image monitoring apparatus for detecting a suspicious person hiding his/her face in a monitoring space includes: an imaging section for periodically imaging the monitoring space to acquire monitoring images; a storage section for storing face feature information about persons beforehand and storing the monitoring images acquired by the imaging section; a head extraction section for extracting an input head area corresponding to a person's head from the monitoring images; a face feature determination section for determining whether the input head area has feature information on a face according to the face feature information; a tracking section for tracking a corresponding input head area over a plurality of periodically acquired monitoring images; and a suspicious person detection section for, if the face feature determination section determines that there is no feature information on a face in the input head area, determining whether or not the person is a suspicious person hiding his/her face according to past input head areas associated by the tracking section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
