The light source (10) has multiple lighting units, which are switched individually by a circuit arrangement (20) and based on which the light source is adjustable with respect to its color location, color temperature and color rendering index. The circuit arrangement has a storage unit (24), in which a virtually determined data martrix (26) is placed for individual activation for all lighting units of the light source so that any color rendering index of the light source is selectively adjusted. The lighting units are light emitting diodes. An independent claim is included for a method for actuating a light source.
