PURPOSE: A driving safety apparatus is provided to guide the safety driving by using a driving load index. CONSTITUTION: A driving safety apparatus comprises a digital map DB(10), a GSP module(20), a road type detection module(30), a travel information detection module(40), a driving load index detection module(50), a calculation module(60), and an alarm module(70). The digital map DB saves the location information of roads and buildings. The GPS module detects the position information of a vehicle while driving. The road type detection module detects the type of a road where a vehicle driving. The driving load index detection module detects the driving load index based on driving information. The calculation module accumulates and calculates the driving load index detection module. The alarm module generates alarm when the accumulated driving load index is higher than a reference value.
