[Classes 52 (i) and 52 (iii)] [Also in Group VII] A castor adjustable vertically, comprises a floor engaging element A including an externally threaded a n d axially splined stem 1, a ferrule B including an elongated neck 6 having an axially splined opening to receive the stem 1 to prevent relative rotation, and a captive nut C rotatably mounted on the base 5 of the ferrule B, threaded to engage the threaded stem 1 and raise or lower the latter. The ferrule base 5 has upstanding prongs 11 to fix it to the furniture. The parts may be all die-cast. In a modification (not shown) the ferrule and associated means to attach it to the furniture are pressed from sheet metal stampings. The floor engaging surface may be either a glide or a wheel mounted on ball races on the stem 1. |
