A water cutting jet for e.g. leather or textiles has a water tank (6) linked by a connector (24) to the jet cutter (1) and liquid cartridge (25). The connector has a housing (29) with a cartridge socket (30), an inlet (40) and an outlet (41) to the tank. The housing has a dosing device (38) that defines a locking position and determines whether the cartridge is connected and locked or disconnected. Also claimed is a method for regulating the water jet cutter.
