PURPOSE: A permanent magnet workpiece holding device is provided to control the holding and the releasing of a magnetic body stably by controlling flux flow. CONSTITUTION: A permanent magnet workpiece holding device(100) comprises first and second permanent magnets(110, 120), first and second pole pieces(130, 140), and a control permanent magnet(150). The N and the S poles are coupled with the first and the second pole pieces respectively. The first and the second pole pieces comprise holding surfaces(135, 145) respectively. One pole piece of the control permanent magnet is arranged around a rotary shaft. The control permanent magnet is located between the first and the second pole pieces and restricts magnet bodies to the surfaces of the first and the second pole pieces.
