The method involves producing multiple through-holes (22) in a carrier (20) of the interior lining part (10) along a weakening line. A foam layer (30) is applied on the carrier facing side of a decorative layer (40) made of cross-linked thermoplastic olefin to be connected with the carrier. The carrier, foam layer and decorative layer are connected to a semi-finished product of the interior lining part. Multiple incisions (32,42) are produced through the foam layer and in the side of the decorative layer facing the carrier along the weakening line through the through-holes in the carrier. An independent claim is included for an interior lining part, particularly an instrument panel for a vehicle.
