A lubricant reservoir receives a lubricant for the guide carriages (12,15), a coupling device couples the lubricant reservoir with the guide carriages, and a lubricant metering device (14) carries out metered supply of lubricant from the lubricant reservoir to the guide carriages. The lubricant reservoir is connected to the guide carriage, such that translational movement of the linear guide (10) is carried out along the guide rail (11). The outer guide portion of a lubricant supply apparatus (13) is formed in curve-shape. An independent claim is included for method of supplying lubricant to guide carriages of linear guide.
