Manufacturing a sheet metal structural component for a motor vehicle, which is made of an aluminum alloy, comprises (a) providing an aluminum sheet blank at heat-treated states of an aluminum alloy including T4 state, T5 state, T6 state or T7 state, (b) heating the aluminum sheet blank at 100-450[deg] C, (c) reshaping the aluminum sheet blank to a structural sheet metal component, and (d) carrying out post-heat treatment of the reshaped structural sheet metal component. An independent claim is also included for the structural sheet metal component manufactured by the above mentioned method.
