The method involves providing a sensor (6.3) in a sheet brake (6) for detection of a sheet (1). The position of the sheet is calculated by a machine controller, during deceleration process. The sensor is configured to detect whether or not the sheet is present at predetermined time and to produce measurement value for setting the gripper opening point.
