The method involves optically transmitting (200) the user data signals to a receiver with a transmission power. The other data signals are received (208) from the receiver in response of the former data signals, where the latter data signals are comprised of the reception quality information. The transmission power is controlled based on the reception quality information, where the controlling is performed so that the former data signal is received with a predetermined quality by the receiver. The user data is transmitted (218) to the receiver with the controlled transmission power.
