The device (1) has storage units (2,3) that are connected with a fuel tank through a tank vent line (4), and to an intake manifold of engine of vehicle through suction line (5). The storage unit (3) has a lower storage capacity than the storage unit (2). A throttle element (9) is arranged in front of the storage unit (3) in flow direction to reduce a flow cross-section during the leak test with flow of volatile fuel components led by the tank vent line and the suction line from the fuel tank to the engine.
