Micro combined heat and power unit having burner and engine temperature sensors

Disclosed is a micro combined heat and power (mCHP) generation system 1 comprising a burner 4 and an internal combustion engine 2 used to power a generator 3. The mCHP arrangement includes temperature sensors (not shown) to detect the engine temperature so that the burner can be turned on if the engine temperature is too low. The temperature sensors may be located in the oil sump 12 and/or the engine 2 and a heat exchanger may be used to provide heat from the burner exhaust to the engine prior to engine ignition.
