PURPOSE: A white light emitting diode is provided to have high light efficiency to emit white light, to obtain high light emitting wavelength, and to have uniform chemical components. CONSTITUTION: A white light emitting diode comprises single phase phosphors based on gadolinium which is a rare earth metal ion of garnet activated by cerium(Ce). The ion comprised in the phosphors is embodied by materials in group 1, 3, 7 of periodic table and represented by (ΣLn)_A(Al_(1-x)MeI_(x/2)MeV_(x/2))2[AlO_(4-y)F_(y/2)N_(y/2)]_3. In chemical formula,ΣLn = Gd, Y, lu, T b, ce, sm and pr, A, x and y are molar ratio, 0.25<=A<=3.5, 0.001<=X<=0.1, MeI= Li, Na or K, 0.001<=y<=0.05, MeV= V, Nb or Ta.
