A negative electrode for a lithium secondary cell, prepared by a method comprising providing a conductive metal foil having a surface roughness Ra of 0.2 µm or more as a current collector, and a mixture of active material particles containing silicon or a silicon alloy with a conductive metal powder, and sintering the mixture on the surface of the current collector; and a lithium secondary cell comprising the negative electrode.
