PURPOSE: A system and method for controlling the idle RPM of an engine is provided to control a stepper motor through ISA schedule and a control function. CONSTITUTION: A system for controlling the idle RPM of an engine comprises a timer calculator(100) and an ISA scheduler(200). The timer calculator provides the counter of timers required for a control function for controlling a stepper motor. The timer calculator calculates the counter of the timers through a fixed timer operated by an OS(Operation System) for an engine control unit. The ISA scheduler adjusts the idle RPM of an engine by controlling the stepper motor through an ISA(Idle Speed Actuator).
