FIELD: process engineering. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to treatment of hydrocarbons, particularly, to cleaning natural gas intended for production of ethylene oxide by ethylene catalytic oxidation. Natural gas is cleaned of heavy hydrocarbons and sulfur-bearing compounds by adsorption. Absorbent carbon is used to this end. Adsorption cleaning is performed in two-phase conditions with recovery of used adsorbent by inert gas, for example, nitrogen heated by dead steam forced through used adsorbent bed in counterstream with natural gas.
