An image supplying apparatus comprises: a superimposed picture generating unit (43) that, when an image, which is to be supplied to a display apparatus, is one formed by a side-by-side system wherein a plurality of displayed frames, which constitute the image and which are to be outputted on the display apparatus, are each compressed in predetermined directions and placed side by side, generates a superimposed picture that is to be superimposed on the image; a picture compressing unit (44) that compresses the generated superimposed picture in the same directions and at the same compression ratio as the displayed frames; and a superimposing unit (45) that superimposes the compressed superimposed picture on at least one of the compressed displayed frames at relatively the same position as the superimposing position on the image.
