634,638. Gas burners. LEJAY, R. A. Dec. 19, 1945, No. 34402. Convention date, July 24, 1942. [Classes 75 (i) and 75 (iii)] A gas burner consists of a tube 21, Fig. 10, fitted with a number of nozzles 20 formed with oppositely inclined outlets 22, 23 arranged so that the jet issuing from each outlet 22 impinges on the jet issuing from the outlet 23 of the next nozzle to form a flat flame 25 and to ensure that on any jet being ignited the flame will spread to all the nozzles along the tube. The nozzles may be formed with a-channel a on their upper surfaces to facilitate the propagation of the flames at the bases of the jets. Air under pressure may be supplied to the flames through a jacket 30 having outlet slots 31 between the nozzles 20 and below the outlets 22, 23. The tube 21 may be of elbow, rectangular, or circular form. In the burner shown in Fig. 3 the tube is made of two semi-cylindrical sections 21a, 21b riveted together along their flanges, their upper flanges being provided with registering Y-shaped grooves forming the gas outlets 22,23.
|
