Multi-layered membrane and the method of producing the membrane

Provides is a method of producing a multilayered filter membrane, including the steps of: a. providing a forming member onto which the membrane is built; b. immersing at least a portion of the forming member into a first mixture containing, in part, metallic particulates; c. removing the forming member from the first mixture and allowing it to dry to form a first layer; d. placing the forming member into a sheath such that the forming member is separated from the sheath by a cavity; e. filling the cavity with a second mixture containing, in part, metallic particulates; f. sealing open portions of the sheath; g. applying a known pressure to the sheath to form a cast comprising a first mixture layer and a second mixture layer; h. removing the sheath and separating the cast from the forming member; and i. treating the cast to form the filter membrane.
