The present invention relates to a device (1) and method for controlling a temperature of a patient by an infusion of fluid. Said device comprises at least one supply (2) of infusion fluid; at least one body temperature input (5) adapted to receive the actual body temperature (Tb) of the patient and at least one additional input (7) adapted to receive at least one additional parameter (AP) representing the actual physiological state of the patient. Furthermore, the device comprises at least one control unit (10) communicating with said body temperature input (5), and said additional input (7) and at least one actuator (13) which is in fluid communication with said supply (2) and which controls at least the actual flow rate (FR) and/or actual temperature of the infusion fluid in accordance with at least one control signal of said control unit (10). Said method describes controlling a temperature of a patient by an infusion of fluid using said device.
