Apparatus and methods for an efficient erosion electrode, including a non-conductive or less conductive layer applied to the sidewalls of the electrode are disclosed. The non-conductive or less conductive layer minimizes "wasted" erosion events between the sidewalls of the electrode and a workpiece.
