A prefabricated formwork system comprising two parallel surfaces and a collapsible mechanism joining the two surfaces, wherein the collapsible mechanism moves between being collapsed and expanded to allow separation of the surfaces to expand the system from a collapsed position to an expanded position, wherein the system includes a lock to lock the system in the expanded position to maintain separation of the surfaces to form a formwork structure.
