A neutron detector coated with boron comprises cathode tubes (1) with a plurality of channels (11) longitudinally formed in the interior thereof, each of the channels (11) being coated with a boron material on the inner wall thereof; electrode wires (4) serving as anode, longitudinally disposed in each of the channels (11), the electrode wires (4) being suited to having a high voltage applied thereto; insulating end plates (2), with the insulating end plate (2) fixed at each end of the cathode tube (1); and the electrode wires (4) are secured to the cathode tubes (1) via the insulating end plates (2). The cathode tube (1) is formed by joining a plurality of substrates (12) coated with a boron material. By providing, in the cathode tube, a plurality of channels coated with a boron material on the inner wall thereof, the neutron detector coated with boron improves the detection efficiency, and has a lower price than a 3He neutron detector. |
