Provided are an information acquisition device and an object detection device capable of increasing the accuracy of distance detection. An information acquisition device projects a laser beam in a prescribed dot pattern, and a CMOS image sensor receives reflected light. A plurality of segment regions are set so as to overlap on the light-receiving surface of the CMOS image sensor. On the basis of the dot pattern reflected by a standard surface, a dot pattern for searching included in each segment region is set. When actually measuring, a region matching the dot pattern for searching included in each of the segment regions is searched for among the dot patterns on the CMOS image sensor. Herein, neighboring segment regions are set so as to overlap by a mutual one-pixel shift. As a result, it is possible to increase the resolving power for distance detection and the accuracy of distance detection.
