<p>PURPOSE: A remote control device using a touch screen gesture input type and simulation and a control method thereof are provided to minimize the number of input buttons arranged in a touch screen of the remote control device and not to need to check input locations of the input buttons or contents when input is performed. CONSTITUTION: A gesture processing unit(490) recognizes an input action of a user as gestures. A simulation processing unit(450) processes a remote control command of the user as simulation. A constant area of a touch screen is designated as area for inputting a user input action. The user input action in the area is recognized as the gestures. The remote control command mapped in each gesture is designated as a direct execution mode and a simulation execution mode. The designated remote control command is transmitted to a target device.
