<p>A scroll fluid machine (1) configured so that the stationary scroll (8) and the movable scroll (10) cooperate each other to define a pressure chamber (60) for operating fluid. The scroll fluid machine (1) comprises: a support member (4) which, on the rear surface (64) side of an end plate (10a) from which the spiral body (52) of the movable scroll is raised, supports the movable scroll (10) so that the movable scroll can revolve; and a thrust plate (70) which is provided between the end plate and the support member and which has a slide surface (72) subjected to a thrust load when the movable scroll slides. The thrust plate has an oil retaining section (76, 88) comprising a recess (82) which is in the slide surface and a protrusion (84) which is on the rear surface (83) on the reverse side of the surface in which the recess (82) is formed. The support member has an engagement section (86) with which the protrusion is engaged.</p>
