PURPOSE: A method for controlling a refrigerator is provided for users to conveniently use the refrigerator as the users confirm the information on food in the refrigerator without opening the refrigerator. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling a refrigerator comprises following steps. Food information is added or deleted from a food management list(S1). The amount of the food deleted or added is saved in storage amount information(S2). The storage amount of specific food is compared with a standard amount(S3). If the storage amount of the specific food is less than the standard amount, the notice of purchasing food is informed(S4). The storage amount is the weight or number.
