<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ice making device, which has a wider detection range for the amount of ice in an ice storage tank while reducing the ratio of its volume occupied in a refrigerator or a freezer. <P>SOLUTION: An ice detection member 6 is connected to a first arm 51 which is forced to swing in a vertical direction, and includes a first slanted part 64 slanting toward the front of the device along the lower direction in the face direction of a parallel face parallel to the swinging face of the first arm 51. At a first end plate 43 of an ice making unit 3, a support part 70 is formed to support the first slanting part 64 of the ice detection member 6 from the lower side in a slidable state. When the first arm 51 and the second arm 52 swing to the lower direction and the ice detection member 6 moves to the lower position, the first slanted part 64 of the ice detection member 6 slides on the support part 70, and the ice detection member 6 moves a lower end 6a toward the lower position to the front side of the device.
