PLANAR LIGHT SOURCE DEVICE, PICTURE SOURCE MODULE, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar light source device used for a liquid crystal display which can save weight.

SOLUTION: The planar light source device wherein light is emitted to a liquid crystal display panel from its rear side is provided with a light source with a plurality of unit light sources arrayed, and a polarized optical sheet for making light from the light source incident and polarized to be emitted. The polarized optical sheet has a prism part with a plurality of unit prisms arranged or a lens part with a plurality of unit lenses arranged on a side where the light source is arranged. The unit prism or the unit lens has an incident surface for making the light emitted from the light source incident into the unit prism or the unit lens, and a reflection surface for reflecting the light incident from the incident surface. The light source emits slanted light toward the prism part or the lens part.
