The curtain airbag (12) has two overlapped layers (24,25) whose edges (21) are interconnected. A gas generator (17) is arranged in a housing (33) provided at edges of overlapped layers. The housing is installed at edges of overlapped layers, by inserting an insert piece (1) at an opening (26) provided between the edges of the overlapped layers. A bounding edge layer (16) of insert piece is connected with overlapped layers. An area of projecting portion (28) of insert is larger than the area of opening such that projecting portion is projected outside the opening.
